Here you will find some pretty neat things friends have shared. The first posting was sent to me by John McCoy. He is relatively new at tying salmon flies but obviously inspired. If anyone would like to share something like this please contact John@FeathersMc.com

A really simple wing setter that apparently works. November 14 2005
"Hi, John?
Since I got the inspiration on your Web site, I thought you?d want to know that I?ve found a guaranteed-every-time, 100-percent foolproof way to put strip wings on salmon flies!
I?d experimented with the pinch-and-loop method, the loose-loop method, the Vulcan Death Grip and the Chute wing-setter. None of them gave me consistent results. Then, this morning as I was re-reading Don Colman?s article about the Chute setter, inspiration struck.
When he described the old-timers? ?button? method, and talked about the method that ?would require rubber fingers? to execute, I started wondering what sort of device would allow a bilaterally symmetrical pull while sliding slickly and smoothly through the tier?s fingers. Then it hit me: FLOSS THREADERS! You know, those little monofilament loops that people use to pull floss through their teeth?
I grabbed one from my bathroom and took it to my tying bench. I snipped out a pair of 26-strand wing slips from a turkey tail and put them into position. I looped the floss threader over the wing butts, pinched the loop into place at the tie-in position, and pulled down. The fibers collapsed beautifully! Result: By far the best wing I?ve ever mounted! No creases, no rolling over, no nothing. Just a beautifully rounded, straight, symmetrical wing!
Anyway, I send you this so that ? if you wish ? you might try it for yourself and/or pass the technique along to others.
Best regards,
John McCoy "Thanks John
