Gordon "Gordeaux" Chesney, besides being a good friend, has the enthusiasm for tying Salmon Flies I admire. He's always trying something new. He loves to experiment, whether it's on a hook or color processing feathers in order to come up with something new and exciting. He will be telling of some of his adventures in the near future. He's been at this for a relatively short time but has some excellent results to show for it. He sent me some Anderson's Pheasant feathers he had dyed a few weeks ago. Click HERE to see them.
I also found out another of Gordeaux's talents. He's an exceptionally good cook. I was visiting my mother, who lives in Western Pennsylvania, around the middle of September. Not only did he drive the 100+ miles to come up to visit he brought a sumptuous feast, then prepared it. I think he even did the dishes afterward. My mom now wants him to visit her rather than me. Just to rub it in a little more Gordeaux even designed and tied a fly especially for her. It's the latest entry below called Doris's Dream. Thanks Buddy, I figured if your wife puts up with all your fly tying nonsense I figured you must have had a redeeming quality or two.
Not only have Gordo and I become very good friends but he has become a valuable asset for this site. He has contributed a Fly In Stages called the MARY "O" and now (May) he has given us a PURPLE INFUSION.
He does a very nice job on his flies as well, whether it's a Classic pattern or something he dreamed up. Below are some of his efforts. Simply click on them to see a larger view:
September 3 2005 Starting with the LOVELY Black & Gold in the row above Gordeaux has sent several new flies. Obviously he has been busy at the vise.
