Amy and Joe Gablick are new friends. My search for talented Salmon Tiers led me to their web site The Contented Angler
Fortunately Joe agreed to become a member of my FRIENDS page and allow us a peek at his tying skills as shown below. Their web site is quite unusual in its initial layout as you will see by clicking on the hyper-link above. You will be treated to some thoughtful quotes from literary icons and a travelogue of fishing trips from their home state of Pennsylvania to New Brunswick's Miramichi. Amy to the right on that river holding a grilse. To the Adirondacks in New York, the Smokies of Tennessee and North Carolina, Shenandoah Park in Virginia and to the Outer Banks for some Salt water angling in South Carolina.
Pictured below left is Joe.
They own an operate what they refer to as an "UNPro" Fly Fishing Shop in Lower Burrell Pennsylvania where they do unheard of things like offer FREE Fly Tying Classes, FREE Fly Casting Instruction and FREE Youth Fly Fishing program enabling Scouts to earn a Fly Fishing Merrit Badge. It sure makes one stop and think, why do they do that in todays day and age. I think it has a lot to do with Joe's philosophy. To better explain that I've quoted a small segment of a section written by Joe called Alternative Fly Fishing "I enjoy reading the old Fly Fishing literature, written in that polite and flowing style. It was a time when anglers freely shared information and flies. Stream etiquette just came naturally and time was always allotted for relaxing along the stream with your lunch and meditating with nature and God. Here at The Contented Angler, we believe this time can still exist. We still offer fly tying instruction at no cost and we are committed to introducing our young people to Fly Fishing."
