Dave Talley is a new friend made through the web site. If I was to measure the success of this web site, the new friendships alone, make it worth its weight in gold. If I get to spend time tying, fishing or both with a small percentage of them I?ll go to my grave a happy man.
Dave was kind enough to send his brief bio as well as a few pictures of the flies he has tied. Dave?s bio:
My name is Dave Talley, and I?m a fly fisherman and fly tier living in Southeastern Pennsylvania. My fishing career began as a child on my grandfather?s boat, fishing cut squid for flounder, and trolling for blue fish. I?m frequently reminded of those outings when I fish flies in some of the same waters.
My interest in fly fishing came much later, at the family camp in the Moosehead Lake region of Maine. Shortly thereafter I stumbled across Joe Bates? Streamers and Bucktails: The Big Fish Flies in the University library and fell in love with the classic Maine streamers. The next step was Spey flies, and it was a short trip from there to fully dressed salmon flies. I have always been in awe of these flies and the people who tie them well.
As you will see Dave is also into Classic Maine Trolling Streamers as well as Classic Atlantic Salmon Flies. Click on the thumbnails to see a larger image:
