Sebastian Letelier (08/25/2005)
Sebastian Letelier is a new friend whom I am fortunate to have met as a result of this website. I?m afraid I have been a bit tardy in getting his page put together. He strikes me not only as a extremely talented young man but is wonderfully enthusiastic as well. He has told me he would like to participate in doing flies in stages as well as assisting with regular additions of salmon flies and art work. As you will soon learn Sebastian is a very skilled artist especially for some one as young as he is. He is also a fishing guide in his Native Country of Chile. He certainly seems to enjoy the best of all worlds. He indicates to me how difficult it is to obtain the necessary materials to dress Salmon Flies where he lives. From looking at the flies he has tied it appears he has been quite resourceful in getting some really nice materials to work with.
Sebastian pictured at right with a beautiful Chilean Brown Trout. He also has his own website (((SEBASTIAN LETELIER))) It is an absolute must to see. He was kind enough to supply his own biography It reads as follows:
"Sebasti?n Letelier was born the 28th of December in 1979 in Santiago-Chile. Art was always present in his family, specially from his parents, so this child grew in an environment full of art which influenced him later when he grew up and became a man.
The fly fishing was an early passion and hobby too, and finally these two passions: Fine Art and fly fishing have been joined in his life.
In 1993, Sebasti?n met Mister Adri?n Dufflocq and his family, who has been an important influence and friend for Sebasti?n in his artistical and technical development in fly fishing, beside the friendship between both. It was in Dufflocq?s home where Sebasti?n sow for the first time those beautiful and colourful salmon flies done by Rogan of Donegal as the own streamers flies tied by Adri?n Dufflocq.
When Sebasti?n was only 13 years old, he worked as a salesman at a fishing shop.
Since he was 16 years old, he has been working as a fishing guide for ?R?os azules? company (its owners the brothers Cristian and Marcelo Dufflocq, and Claudio Pumarino) Sebasti?n was the youngest guide, and he is still successfully working there during the summer periods.
In the 2.000, Sebasti?n studies Fine Arts, Drawing and Painting with the Spanish master, Mart?n Soria, who had the art teaching painting development from the Fine Arts Royal Academy of San Fernando, place where his master was formed as a painter.
This teacher changed his view Ianthe fine arts appreciation, showing him philosophical, technical and aesthetical aspects of the European painting. Since 2004, Sebasti?n becomes Soria?s helper, and works at Soria?s academy teaching procedure and classic methods of painting."
Sebastian Sebastian supports himself through his Art Work and Guiding. Anyone interested in fishing in Chile or obtaining one of his incredible works of art, please contact him at: sebasletelier@yahoo.com
Below are thumbnails of many of the splendid pictures Sebastian sent. Unfortunately I didn't get names to go with the flies. The art work is only a sample of what he is capable of doing. Click on the images below to see a larger picture:
