This will be the Gallery for the flies I receive donated to the Kori Bustard Program.

Initially several of us got together to tie flies using Kori supplied via the free feather program. See Pine Meadow House Gang. Our goal was to put together some attractive flies in a display as a gift for Sara Hallager. Sara is the director of the Kori SSP (Species Survival Program) and was the person that made the feather program reality. She had never seen a Full Dress Salmon Fly but wanted a fly to show the other members of the Kori SSP. The shadow box, crafted by Roger Plourde, is now on display in Sara’s office at the National Zoo. As you can see it is a rather impressive display:

Several of the members of the Kori SSP were enamored with it as well and have requested something similar. The plan is to have the flies on display near the birds explaining the new “Conservation Program” that turns potential landfill into lovely and interesting works of art. As you can see in the next display to be done they do not have to be Fancy Salmon Flies. Any fly that has Kori Bustard of some kind in the dressing is needed. The shadow box below was done by Bud Guidry:

All flies received will be mounted into a shadow box display and donated to one of the various facilities that send us feathers. The next display and just recently finished was done by Stack Scoville. It is destined for the Birmingham Zoo in Alabama:

The beautiful collection of flies BELOW was given to the Boston Zoo by our friends in the North West Salmon Fly Guild. The display was made by member Steve Brocco. Click on Boston Fly Plate for a better view of the flies.
