Brown Dyed Argus-Golden Pheasant Sub

The Great Argus Pheasant secondary and tertial wing quills are generally huge; both in overall and barb length. They marry very well with other feathers and are quite nice to use. Dyed Fiery Brown as you see above they are a wonderful substitute for Golden Pheasant Tail when married into a wing. Most tiers find Golden Pheasant Tail both short in length and obstreperous (at best) to work with. Dyed Argus solves both of those problems.
As you can see in the picture above I’ve labeled the Secondary (on Left) and Tertial. There is very little difference between the two other than the eye pattern is a little better defined on the Secondary. The portion you will use, the difference is negligible.
